The sun is shining, the breeze is blowing, and it’s a great day for a picnic. You don’t have to bother with packing a cooler or relying on boring sandwiches and bags of chips.
Instead, head over to Benito’s where you can pick up your choice of delicious Mexican dishes, hot and ready to enjoy, and carry them to one of these nearby picnic spots to enjoy the great outdoors.
Perfect Pocket Parks Nearby
There are many neighborhood parks surrounding Benito’s restaurant, so you’ll have no problem finding a close-by spot to enjoy your lunch.
Newby Park
At 1105 Jerome Street, this jewel of a park is right around the corner from the restaurant. It has a convenient covered pavilion so you can have lunch rain or shine, and there’s a playground and swings for the kids to enjoy.
There are no restrooms available, but if you’re ordering takeout from Benito’s, you’re welcome to use ours.
Hillside Park
At 1201 E. Maddox Ave., Hillside Park is just eight minutes from the restaurant. It also features covered pavilions and a playground for the kids as well as acres of greenspace for walking and playing. There’s a community center on site with bathrooms available during hours when the building is open.
Forest Park
Just 1.5 miles from Benito’s on Park Place, Forest Park is a lovely, wooded greenspace with a public pool for a post-picnic swim if you desire. With picnic areas, playgrounds, and numerous forested paths for strolling, Forest Park is a perfect choice for an al fresco lunch.
Trinity Park Playground
Only eight minutes from our restaurant, Trinity Park Playground is located at 2001 University Drive. This park has several jungle gyms and play structures for the kids and lots of shaded areas to enjoy your delicious Benito’s lunch.
With something for everyone, Trinity Park is the perfect spot for a family picnic.
Make a Day of It
Don’t just stop at a picnic—make memories with a great afternoon at the Fort Worth Botanic Garden or the Fort Worth Zoo after you’ve enjoyed your lunch.
The Fort Worth Zoo is just seven minutes from Benito’s and minutes from any of the pocket parks we’ve spotlighted. Best of all, the Zoo welcomes picnickers with outdoor seating in shaded areas.
Just make sure you have your hand stamped if you need to return to your car before setting off to enjoy the sights and sounds of the Zoo after lunch.
A mere eight minutes from our restaurant is the Fort Worth Botanic Garden. While they don’t allow food or drink inside the park, you can picnic at nearby Trinity Playground and then enjoy a stroll down the gorgeous garden paths that have blooms for every season.
If you want to hear the refreshing sounds of water, head 9 minutes from Benito’s to the Fort Worth Water Gardens. This incredible architectural urban outdoor plaza is filled with water features to delight and refresh, and is the perfect way to relax and unwind after a delicious meal.

Benito’s has so many delicious choices on the menu that it might be hard to make a decision. We’ll help by providing a few suggestions of foods that happen to “picnic” quite well.
Salads
You can’t go wrong with a salad on a warm spring or summer day! We pile spiced ground or shredded beef with Monterey Jack cheese, tomatoes, and black beans on crisp lettuce served in a tortilla shell and garnished with sour cream and avocado slices.
Tacos
The quintessential Mexican finger-food, our tacos make a hearty, yet easy-to-eat lunch for picnics. Choose from Tacos De Picadillo, with two ground beef tacos in flour tortillas served with rice and beans or Tacos y Frijoles Charros, featuring two shredded beef tacos in flour tortillas with frijoles charros.
Enchiladas, Tostadas, and Flautas, Oh My!
We have several combinations of enchiladas, tostadas, and flautas. One of our favorites is Enchiladas De Chili Con Carne, featuring two enchiladas with chili, cheese, and onions and served with rice and beans.
You can also try Tostadas De Chorizo. You’ll get two tostadas with our flavorful Mexican sausage, plus rice and beans.
If you love the flavor of flautas, then Flautas De Pollo—two Chicken flautas with sour cream, plus rice and beans—is just the ticket.
